Diwali Decorations

Indians celebrate their great and glorious festival Diwali in the month of October- November. In Sanskrit Deepavali is a compound of two words Deep+avail that means array of lamps (diyas) so it is called a festival of lights. It is a belief that villagers of Ayodhya celebrate the arrival of Lord Ram after fourteen years of exile and lighted many rows of diyas at the pathway of Ram and around their houses, since that time Indians are celebrating the day. It symbolizes the triumph of good over bad, brightness over dark.



According to traditional myth on this day at night Goddess Lakshmi visited by one house to another and bless to those houses which are well illuminated and well decorated with Diwali Decorative Items. Due to its splendor and grandeur and happiness, Diwali is most awaited festival in India. In India public get very excited to give new unique, graceful, stylish beautiful look to their houses.



As per customs and rituals people celebrate Diwali as a Hindu New Year. Before Diwali almost every house get white-washed, natives neatly clean their houses and beautifully decorate them. It all starts a few weeks before Diwali every person of the family spotlessly cleans the house from first corner to last; it is traditionally marks the auspicious begin of the carnival. Public clean their homes as well as their soles to welcome Maa Lakshmi as well as their relatives and decoration with Phool Mala.



Not only houses even temples, streets, markets and shops also illuminated like a bride. There are various Diwali decoration ideas to decorate temples, home, offices, shop with the candles, diyas, torans, rangoli, garlands, hangings, indoor, outdoor decoration items, dried flowers, phool malas, streets decoration lightings to make this festival a grand celebrations.



To gratify Lakshmi and dears and nears people give new and beautiful appearance to their residence. Communities decorate their walls with beautiful curtains. Diyas plays a traditional role in Diwali illumination and decorations of Diwali Diyas. Traditionally oil filled earthen baked diyas are auspiciously burnt at the entrance and at pooja-sthal.



In market many fancy and decorative diyas are available, that are innovatively and creatively decorated and painted. They are in varied in sizes, shapes and color. Though the requirement of earthen lamps, wax filled lamps are greatly in demand. Haandi shaped diyas, star shaped diyas, Diwali Torans floating candles that float in a water filled jar with beautiful wax made petals are the decoration items of the fest.



Embroiedred and stuffed with beads, shells, bells, mirrors and colorful wall hangings or Torans gives a shimmering look to the house at the dark night of Diwali. These torans or door hangings are traditionally used to decorate the doorsteps or Mandir. Different rangoli patterns are made to welcome Lakshmi.



 Rangoli colors are made of rice powder, turmeric powder, leaves, pulses and vermilion. During Diwali pujan the idols of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi are thoroughly washed then decorated with new, bright and colorful clothes and adorned with ornament, devotees offer garlands of rose, jasmine or marigold to idols and placed a puja thali with a tiny box of roli-moli-chawal, a small katori, diyas and Prasad.



At streets lightings both sides of the street, in market wires of lightning around trees and on shops blinking bulbs, illuminations over Temples and Gurudawaras, dazzling and colorful clothes and knick-knacks of idols create a thrilling impression with their glittering glow.
